...Runwell Hospital

Patient Information Book:

Runwell Hospital was the very last psychiatric hospital to be built in Britain by the East Ham and Southend-on-Sea County Borough Councils. The site had facilities for 1010 patients but today, the hospital stands abandoned. Talks of its closure had been rumoured for many years and it finally shut its doors in 2010.

As usual, this booklet contains information on all the important things you'd need to know. For instance, information on how to get there on the "special hospital bus" (stop sniggering at the back!): Patients could use this service for free, everyone else however, had to pay 30p.

Other pieces of information which would be important were: Staff uniforms: Patients' welfare: Runwells' Day Hospital: Occupational therapy: Shopping facilities: I wonder what sort of clothes these places sold? Possibly some of the most hideous things known to man I'd expect! If anyone knows differently, let me know...
